Weekend Warrior Zook
Meet Harrison and his 1985 Suzuki Sierra, a lightweight weekender that’s been transformed from a humble farm rig into a tough little track weapon.
Originally used as a paddock basher, this 1.2 litre Zook has been with Harrison since he was a kid. “I decided to fix it up and build something I could take off road,” he says. Small, nimble, and surprisingly capable, it skips through tight trees and climbs ruts that would challenge much larger 4x4s.
Most of the fabrication was done by Seriously Suzi in Bayswater, including a custom bull bar fitted with a 9500lb WARN winch, a GME aerial, and a Stedi light bar. The crew also fabricated rock sliders, a roof cage, a rear bar with jerry can and spare wheel carriers, and a reinforced tow bar for recoveries
To finish it off, Harrison turned to RAPTOR. “It was my first time painting a car. I sanded it back, primed it, and sprayed the RAPTOR on. It turned out a treat,” he says.
The Zook has plenty of personality and is built to handle tough tracks without breaking the bank. Next up is a gearbox rebuild and reduction gears. But for now, Harrison’s focused on getting out and enjoying the drive.
